No electrical system can be considered ‘Safe’ for use until it has been Tested & Inspected. Furthermore, all electrical systems deteriorate with age and use. Established systems should always be tested on a scheduled basis to ensure compliance with BS 7671.

Due to various changes within the building industry, insurance companies and the buy-to-let market, we have found an increase in the requirement for periodic testing and inspecting. For example, a rental domestic property should be tested every 5 years or at a change of tenancy, this ensures correct operation of the electrical system between tenants, making sure that no changes have been made without the landlord’s knowledge. This falls under duty of care from a landlord to a tenant.
